I’m going to add a note to this photo in particular. This is the best house fire photo I’ve taken. I was working at the local newspaper at the time. It was spring time and several homes had been struck by lightning. Most were fine. Obviously this one was not. I was extremely lucky to be able to park in a spot where I could take photos from my car since it was raining and still lightning. This home was more than 4,000-square-feet in an upscale rural neighborhood. Unfortunately, it’s the rural nature of this community that leads to fires like this. There are no hydrants so the fire fighters have to bring water trucks, and they are coming from 10+ minutes away. I can only imagine to cost of their home-owners insurance.
